WHO’S ON CAMPUS

A Community for Collaboration

Two bioscience employers currently reside on the GGC Partnership Campus anchored by the Greenwood Genetic Center.

Greenwood Genetic Center

The Greenwood Genetic Center (GCC) is a nonprofit institute centered on providing clinical genetic services, diagnostic laboratory testing, educational programs and resources, and research in the field of medical genetics. With a focus on compassionate patient care and innovative scientific advancement, the Greenwood Genetic Center keeps patients and their families at the forefront of everything they do.

The center, which was founded in 1974, operates five clinic locations across South Carolina serving patients and families throughout the lifespan with a variety of genetic needs and concerns. As the home of state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies and internationally-recognized research in the fields of birth defects and intellectual disabilities, the Center draws talented clinicians, diagnosticians, and researchers from around the world to its campus. The Center also boasts innovative educational opportunities for students from middle school to post-graduate study to inspire and facilitate advanced genetics education and career exploration.

The Clemson University Center for Human Genetics

The Clemson University Center for Human Genetics is housed in Self Regional Hall, a state-of-the-art research and educational facility located on the GGC Partnership Campus. Led by world-renown Drosophila geneticist, Dr. Trudy Mackay, research focuses on genomic, computational, and comparative genetic approaches to gain insights into both genetic and environmental risk factors for a range of human diseases.

The Center promotes a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that involves faculty in Self Regional Hall and faculty and students from the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry, and the School for Mathematics and Statistics on Clemson University’s main campus. The Center for Human Genetics actively engages regional, national and international partnerships and provides excellent opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral research.
